He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, pure. 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
