He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 to a rich man, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
