He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attended to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and fearfully, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his consort, his sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
