The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 arise, and warn! 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And then granted him resources in abundance. 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
