He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 wife and sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
