He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And he feareth 9 You neglect. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and palms 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
