The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the breath of morning 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
