The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun is folded up, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 The Quran is not the word of condemned satan. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
