The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when the souls he paired, 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 then shall each person know what he has brought along. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And the breath of morning 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed there [in the heavens] and trustworthy. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of a satan accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 It is naught but a reminder for the nations, 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
