The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 when they measure against the people, take full measure 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 For a mighty day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 You shall see upon their faces the glow of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink pure sealed wine. 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "They have indeed gone astray." 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
