The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
