The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
