The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
