The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
