The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
