The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
