The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
