The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and they will return to their people, delighted 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by oath of the night and all that gathers in it. 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
