The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
