The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
