The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
