The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

By heaven and the night-star! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 it is not a jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
