The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 (It is a nightly radiant star). 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By heaven of the returning rain, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And no trifle. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
