The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sky, and by the nightly comer! 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 and so am I: 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
