Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
