Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
