Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions ranged! 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
