Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
