Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
