Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
