Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And by oath of ten nights. 2 And by the even and the odd, 3 and by the night when it moves on towards daybreak (reward and retribution in the next life is an absolute reality). 4 is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? 5 ART THOU NOT aware of how thy Sustainer has dealt with [the tribe of] 'Ad, 6 of the columned (city) of Iram, 7 The likes of whom had never been created in the land? 8 And (with) Thamud (people), who cut (hewed) out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)? 9 and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, 10 [All of] whom oppressed within the lands 11 So they made great mischief therein? 12 So your Lord poured a scourge of punishment over them. 13 Most surely your Lord is watching. 14 As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me". 15 But when He tries him by restraining his means, he says: "My Lord despises me." 16 No! But you do not honor the orphan 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. 19 And you love wealth with immense love. 20 Nay! when the earth is made to crumble to pieces, 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 On that day the punishment of God and His detention will be unparalleled. 25 and none can bind with bonds like His! 26 'O soul at peace, 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased (with him), well-pleasing (Him), 28 So enter among My servants, 29 And enter thou My Garden. 30
