Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Dawn, 1 And [by] ten nights 2 Consider the multiple and the One! 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 Is there in that an oath for a mindful man? 5 Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- 6 [the people of] Iram the many-pillared, 7 The likes of whom had never been created in the land? 8 And (with) Thamud (people), who cut (hewed) out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)? 9 (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, 10 Who did transgress beyond bounds in the lands (in the disobedience of Allah). 11 And multiplied corruption. 12 Thy Lord unloosed on them a scourge of chastisement; 13 Verily thy Lord is in an ambuscade, 14 As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and gifts, then he says (puffed up): "My Lord has honoured me." 15 But when He tries him by restraining his means, he says: "My Lord despises me." 16 But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, 17 and you do not urge one another to feed the needy, 18 and greedily devour the entire inheritance, 19 and you have a love of wealth which can never be satisfied. 20 Surely when We pound the earth to powder grounded, pounded to dust, 21 And thy Lord shall come with angels, rank on rank, 22 And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him? 23 He shall say, 'O would that I had forwarded for my life!' 24 So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. 25 none shall bind as He binds. 26 O thou peaceful soul! 27 return unto thy Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing! 28 "Enter then among My votaries, 29 And enter into My garden. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
