The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I CALL THIS earth to witness -- 1 – this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 or by the great father and his wonderful son (Abraham and Ishmael) 3 We created the human in fatigue. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He says: “I have squandered enormous wealth.” 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 a tongue, and two lips? 9 and guided him on the two highways? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?- 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 To an orphan, having relationship, 15 Or a poor man cleaving to the dust. 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 But those who reject Our Signs, they are the (unhappy) Companions of the Left Hand. 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
