The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And accepts the best, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 And his wealth will not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 and the reward (of their Lord) will certainly make them happy. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
