The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We shall surely ease him to the Easing. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
