The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Now I have warned you of a Fire that flames, 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
