The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 He desires only to please his Lord, the Supreme. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
