The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
