The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
