He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to a rich man, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
