The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains shall pass away passing away (altogether). 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
