The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ THE MOST GRACIOUS 1 has imparted this Qur'an [unto man]. 2 He has created man: 3 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 the stars and the trees bend in prostration. 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And He appointed the earth for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 And grain having husks and scented plants. 12 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 and has created the jinn from the flame of fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 and yet there is a barrier between them which they may not overstep. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 And His are the ships going and coming in the seas, like mountains. 24 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 25
