AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them. 81 And they were hewing out houses from mountains feeling secure. 82 Then the Blast caught them in the morning 83 All that they had acquired was of no avail to them. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator. 86 We have indeed bestowed on you the seven oft-repeated verses and the Great Qur'an. 87 Do not yearn for other people's property and wives and do not grieve (that they do not believe). Be kind to the believers. 88 and say: "Behold, I am indeed the plain warner [promised by God]! 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 who have broken the Koran into fragments. 91 Them, by thy Lord, We shall question, every one, 92 As to what they did. 93 Hence, proclaim openly all that thou hast been bidden [to say,] and leave alone all those who ascribe divinity to aught beside God: 94 Surely We suffice to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 those who set up another deity alongside Allah. They shall soon come to know. 96 Well know We that thy bosom is oppressed by what they say, 97 Exalt with the praise of your Lord and be one of those who prostrate. 98 And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death). 99
