He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attended to him, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And whereas he fears, 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 In honored books, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing and joyous 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
