And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?" 11 He said: my Lord! verily I fear they shall belie me. 12 "And my breast straitens, and my tongue expresses not well. So send for Harun (Aaron) (to come along with me). 13 And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me." 14 Allah said: "By no means! proceed then, both of you, with Our Signs; We are with you, and will listen (to your call). 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 let the Children of Israel go with us!'" 17 He (Pharaoh) said (to Moses): 'Did We not bring you up when you were a child? And have you not spent years of your life amongst us? 18 And thou didst that thy deed which thou didst; and thou art of the ingrates. 19 Said he, 'Indeed I did it then, being one of those that stray; 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 And this is the past favour wherewith thou reproachest me: that thou hast enslaved the Children of Israel. 22 Pharaoh said: 'And what is the Lord of the Worlds' 23 'He' (Moses) replied: 'is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you believe' 24 Said [Pharaoh] unto those around him: "Did you hear [what he said]?" 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 (Pharaoh) said: 'Surely, the Messenger who has been sent to you is mad!' 27 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" 28 Fir'awn said: if thou wilt take a god other than me, I shall surely place thee among the prisoners. 29 [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?" 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 He cast down his staff and thereupon it was a clear serpent. 32 And he drew forth his hand, thereupon it shone bright before the beholders. 33
