The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 And you make strong fortresses that perhaps you may 129 When you lay hands upon anyone, you do so as tyrants. 130 So fear you God, and obey you me; 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 "Freely has He bestowed on you cattle and sons,- 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 140
