The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount 1 and the Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 and the roof uplifted 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 “So is this magic, or are you unable to see?” 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
