Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
