This surely is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe: 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 upon thy heart, that thou mayest be one of the warners, 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Thus have We caused this [message] to pass [unheeded] through the hearts of those who are lost in sin: 200 They will not believe in it until they suffer the painful torment. 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 they say: "Can we be granted some respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 But hast thou ever considered [this]: If We do allow them to enjoy [this life] for some years, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 We never destroyed a village that did not have warners 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able. 211 Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 And be kind and humble to the believers who follow you. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, 217 Who observes you when you rise (to pray) 218 And your movements among those who fall prostrate (along with you to Allah in the five compulsory congregational prayers). 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I inform you (of him) upon whom the Shaitans descend? 221 They descend on every great accuser, extreme sinner. (The magicians) 222 who lends an ear to them, and most of them are liars. 223 And the Poets,- It is those straying in Evil, who follow them: 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
