Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Woe to the liars 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 and in the mornings they would ask for forgiveness; 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
